A Brief History……
Ear acupuncture is a unique complimentary
therapy that originated in China 3000 years ago. Over the years ear
acupuncture has always been a popular method of treatment in China, however, much research and development
has been carried out in Europe over the past
50 years. Therefore it is both a Chinese
and a Western Medicine.
Ear acupuncture is a very
effective holistic method of treatment for most chronic complaints. This sophisticated mechanism aids the body’s
natural healing process in many ways.
How it works….
To understand ear acupuncture
you have to imagine that the ears are a switchboard that is connected to the
brain. On each ear there are
approximately 200 acupuncture points.
When one of these is stimulated, electrical impulses are sent to the
brain, which then projects them to the targeted anatomical area. Ear acupuncture is a very sophisticated
complimentary therapy.
Conditions it can help
alleviate…..
Migraine, arthritis, eczema,
asthma, hay fever, stress, alcohol/drug/nicotine withdrawal, headaches,
anxiety, obesity, IBS, joint pain, muscle pain, insomnia, menopause, liver
disease, sciatica, eating disorders, depression, PMS, infertility, frozen
shoulder, sinusitis, hypotension, indigestion….
The treatment…..
A session will take about 45
minutes. Five disposable needles will be
inserted into the appropriate points in the ears using a special breathing
technique. During this time you should
feel deeply relaxed with a sense of calm and well being. You will be seated in a comfortable chair and
I will provide calming music, relaxing tea and incense sticks to enhance the
experience. Ear Acupuncture is not painful and most people say they cannot feel the needles
in their ears but if at any time you wish me to remove the needles then I can do
so. After the treatment is finished I can apply press studs to the points I
have treated so that the effects keep on working
The cost….
Initial consultation is free,
then the charges are: £25- per session £80- for a course of 4
treatments
You should feel better after
1-2 treatments. However, it can take up to
4 treatments to feel the maximum benefits.
Maintenance treatments may be required.
